As a Direct Support Professional we expect you to:

Related Duties:

  1. Drive an ABLE, Inc. or privately owned vehicle to transport people.
  2. Complete healthcare and related duties. (For example: personal cares, medications, oxygen, enemas, glucose testing, occupational/physical therapies, follow diets/menus, perform CPR and/or First Aid.
  3. Lift and carry 50+ pounds approximately eight times in an eight-hour shift.
  4. Communicate effectively (through various methods) to people supported, guardians, families, various professionals and coworkers.
  5. Participate in the Life Planning process and complete assignments as required.
  6. Complete required training-estimate of one module per month for a total of 14 modules, Therapeutic Intervention, CPR and First Aid.
  7. Promote a clean, safe, friendly environment and follow Safety and Sanitation practices.
  8. Meal preparation.
  9. Ability to independently problem solve in a positive manner.
  10. Follow ABLE, Inc. policies and procedures which include, but not limited to, reporting suspected abuse, neglect and/or exploitation and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Valid drivers' license with an insurable driving record per ABLE, Inc.'s insurance carrier and provide current proof of personal vehicle insurance.
  3. People oriented and be able to positively advocate on a person's behalf.
  4. Dependable and flexible, available to work rotating shifts 24/7, 365 days per year.
  5. Self-reliant, self-initiating and project a "calming" presence and attitude.
  6. Honest and dedicated.
  7. Pass drug and alcohol testing.
